Impact assessment is an important tool when it comes to measure and analyse the impact of RTD policies and programmes on the research system, economy and society at large. It provides the factual basis for decision making processes and contributes to the development, improvement and implementation of appropriate RTD policies and programmes.

Realising the need of more evidence-based policy making, and under the auspices of the EU Presidency of Spain in 2010, the Ministry of Science and Innovation (MICINN) has developed the assessment study on the impact of the 6th European RTD Framework Programme (FP6) on the national public research system of Spain. The launch of the final report was held in this event, which took place on 27th of May 2010 in Madrid.
